Noua Revistă de Drepturile Omului / The New Review of Human Rights (NRDO) is a quarterly publication of the Center for International Studies in cooperation with the C.H. Beck publishing house. The quarterly is the heir to the Romanian Human Rights Review (Revista Romana de Drepturile Omului), published between 1993 and 2005. The journal was designed as an academic publication which should be simultaneously a resource for institutions and organizations involved in promoting and understanding human rights. Its five sections are devoted, respectively, to studies on legal doctrine; decisions; reports; notes on jurisprudence; and translations from classic studies in the fields of legal philosophy and the philosophy of human rights and the fundamental liberties.
By publishing the NRDO we wish to promote the reconciliation between the principle of human dignity and the principle of human freedom. In the editors’ view, not only is the reconciliation of these two values possible, but the principles actually strengthen each other. Their mutual recognition and support are evident in another goal of the NRDO – the integration of human rights theory and practice.
